The Sign up for each term is open from noon on Saturday of week 1 through to Thursday night of week 2 and all activities kick off in week 3. You can see what you have signed up for in your own online timetable and how many places are left in each activity. Use the search filters to narrow down your search by looking just for your year group or just for one type of activity and you can look at the reports to see which year group or tutor group is winning with the most sign ups. If you have any suggestions add them to the suggestion box and I will do my best to make them happen for the next term.
You will need your admissions number from your tutor and date of birth for the password (ddmmyy). If you do not have one yet and want to just see what is on offer, you can browse the site using the logon and password guest.
After School Activities are an important aspect of school life, enabling students to develop a range of skills. It also allows students to develop essential life skills such as teamwork and communication skills, as well as developing friendships outside of the constraints of the academic timetable.
The programme of extra-curricular activities that broadly comes under the banner of ASA has been a constant area of growth at JIS. Expanding beyond a simple provision of activities after school, the scope of opportunities for students now covers a wide variety of times and types, catering for a wide range of interests and ages.
As well as experiential activities which run over a single term, the establishment of various Clubs in some sectors of the school has given students the chance to belong to a team or group over an extended period. These Clubs have also become involved in external competitions and gatherings, both locally and internationally. Seasonal sports ASA also allow for a wide range of sporting disciplines to be experienced by students.
Staff from both Junior and Senior sectors, as well as senior students and parents, offer leadership to hundreds of students throughout the year. Peer tutoring provides opportunities for senior students to act as mentors to their junior counterparts, extending the connections between a diverse range of school community members. The ASA programme provides a vital balance to the academic side of school life, creating opportunities for students of different ages to work together with staff and parents in an environment which is conducive to building relationships, personal confidence and developing skills.
