Sixth Form
Age 16 to 18 years
In the Sixth Form pupils may choose from a wide range of subjects. The work is challenging. Both A-Levels and the IB demand a high level of commitment. Good passes at I/GCSE are necessary to undertake the study of a subject at A-level and IB. Most students will take four subjects at A Level, although it is possible to study only three. A-level students enjoy the challenge of specialisation. IB students will study 6 subjects (3 subjects at Higher Level and 3 subjects at Standard Level). Both A-levels and the IB are an excellent preparation for university. The Sixth Form helps pupils to make the transition from school to the much greater freedom of university life. Sixth Form students receive support from their teachers but are expected to work independently and be self-motivating.
